'Country Town Girl' has layers and layers of mark-making, textures and colour. If you scroll through to the close-up photos of this painting, you will be able to see some of the background layers peaking through the light blue background.  Shades of blue grey, ochre, burnt sienna, various shades of dark blues and a pop of red/orange, as well as mark-making in pencil, pen, and paint. The Peony has been hand drawn onto music sheet paper, and then a series of what I call 'dotting work or pointillism' is applied around the edge and some on the inside of the peony whilst allowing some of the music sheet paper to continue to show through.

The canvas has a base layer of molding and crackle paste and is highly textured, so the name and title are written on the back of the painting.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Natalie is a Western Australian Artist who lives and works South of Margaret River on her family's farm.

Her love of the colours of the bushland she is surrounded by, country living and the native fauna and flora inspire her works today.
